Gut Health – a gentler approach needed

Gut Health – a gentler approach needed

Gut health has become one of those phrases we hear everywhere—often wrapped in complex advice, strict rules, and long lists of what to avoid. I believe caring for your gut can be much simpler, and more enjoyable than the complex routines some follow.

It really begins with listening to your cells that are speaking to you every moment of the day.

Your Body Is Already Speaking

Did you know that digestion is one of the body’s most responsive systems. It reflects not only what you eat, but how you live.  You gut knows so much about you.

You might notice your gut having a conversation with you in subtle ways:

  • a feeling of heaviness after certain meals,
  • a sense of ease when you eat slowly,
  • a shift in energy depending on how nourished you feel and if your cravings for sugar are increasing.

These are inner signals that need to be understood. I would encourage that you don’t override them by ignoring them but rather be still and keep a journal how your feel after every meal and this will give you a list to better understand foods that start the imbalance in preventing you to be comfortable in your own gut.

We are always in a rush and it is time to slow down from eating slower and being still when you eat

Did you know one of the most supportive things you can do for your gut is by becoming still and eating only when you are not rushed.

Eating in a rushed, distracted state puts the body into stress mode, where digestion becomes secondary. Even when you eat a wholesome plant based meal can feel heavy when it’s eaten quickly or without awareness.

Why don’t you try this:

  • Pause before your first bite
  • Take a breath
  • Notice the taste and texture of your food – chew each mouthful for a good 8 seconds

It may sound small, but it shifts your entire internal environment – this is how important it is restoring balance in your gut.

Gut health isn’t built through restriction—it’s built through consistency and variety.

Rather than focusing on eliminating everything at once, think about what you can add:

  • Foods that feel grounding and easy to digest
  • A mix of fibre-rich plants throughout the week
  • Naturally fermented options like yogurt, kefir, or sauerkraut
  • Warm, cooked meals when your system feels sensitive

Did you know there isn’t any perfect recipe for your gut as it is about understanding the best way to nurture your inner ignition.

A simple daily support for the gut

When I think about supporting the gut, I also think about what we can add into our day to nourish the body more deeply. This is why I love Vital All-In-One — it brings together 78 carefully selected ingredients in just two teaspoons a day, including greens, herbs, prebiotics, probiotics, enzymes, vitamins and minerals to support digestion, gut health, energy and overall wellbeing. For me, it feels like a simple way to give the body a daily foundation, especially when life is busy and we need support that is easy, nourishing and consistent.

When it comes to the gut STRESS is often overlooked.

It’s easy to focus only on food, but stress plays a significant role in digestion. Did you know when your nervous system is constantly switched on, your gut feels it.

You might even experience bloating, discomfort, or irregular digestion not from a meal you have had but because your body is trying to keep up.

Your gut needs:

  • More fresh air
  • Taking slow breaths
  • Slowing down rather than rushing to appointments and when eating

Your body needs to learn to trust you!

I believe that  long-term wellness often comes from rebuilding trust with your own body. Some days your digestion will feel strong and steady. Other days, more sensitive. This isn’t failure—it’s fluctuation and your gut needs to know you are understanding its daily rhythms

The goal for the health of your gut is always caring for your gut and thinking before you select what to eat and supplement with…your gut has its own inner dial and go gently so it knows you care.

A Gut Happy Foundation is found in the small, steady things like:

  • drinking water regularly
  • eating without rushing
  • choosing foods that feel nourishing
  • getting enough rest
  • allowing your body time to reset before moving to liquids when eating

A calm gut enables us to feel calm, balanced, and knowing that we are building good health daily.

Gut health, like all aspects of wellness, isn’t about control and becoming angry with your body and gut but rather creating the internal fertilization that your gut needs to continue looking after you.
